Hook-billed Kite Photography Tour

Unforgettable morning with some incredible raptors and an exceptional guide

I had a fantastic time with Donovan on this tour. Hook-billed kites had been on my wish list for a long time, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience seeing and photographing them for the first time. Donovan knows the area incredibly well, and we spotted a group barely ten minutes into the tour. Watching these birds feed and fly around in their natural environment was amazing. He’s also a fantastic photographer, with a deep knowledge of the behaviour and favourite perches of the raptors in the area. He knows where to position you for the best light and angles, and his photography setup is a game changer: his vehicle has a raised rack you can climb onto, allowing you to photograph perched raptors much closer to eye level. He put a lot of effort into getting me into the right position for some great shots, which I really appreciated. We ended up seeing over four species of raptors that morning, including a pair of bat falcons, another species I had been very keen to photograph. I had a blast with Donovan from beginning to end. He’s a great person, a brilliant guide and a talented photographer, and spending the morning with him was a real pleasure. If you’re visiting the area, I highly recommend reaching out to him. You won’t be disappointed!
