Rufous-vented Ground Cuckoo tour

Your tour guide:
Since 2015, I have dedicated myself to exploring the extraordinary birds and wildlife of La Tigra and its surrounding wilderness. I am fortunate to live among some of Costa Rica’s most iconic species, from the vibrant Tody Motmot and Lattice-tailed Trogon to the rare Bare-necked Umbrellabird and the elusive Rufous-vented Ground Cuckoo. It would be a privilege to share my passion and deep local knowledge of this magical region with you.
About this tour
Join me on a quest to track one of the most elusive birds in the Neotropics: the Rufous-vented Ground Cuckoo. Known as a "phantom of the forest," it is a species many birders dream of seeing, but only a few ever encounter. With years of experience tracking these birds as they follow army ant swarms, I provide a rare opportunity to witness this spectacular behavior. Note: Because of the nomadic nature of this species, please contact me before booking to confirm recent sightings and ensure the "phantom" is currently active in the area.
